Marlborough Food & Wine Festival Birthday Celebration

Turning 50 is definitely a milestone birthday, but hubby Dan didn’t want a party so in February we decided to head away for the weekend to celebrate at the Marlborough Food and Wine Festival. Dan’s Birthday fell on the same weekend as the festival, in the sunshine summer month of February here in New Zealand, so it was perfect timing.

We were joined by a great group of friends.

All the fellas wore matching shirts – which made them easy to spot, especially after we’d sipped a few wines – (they even made it into the local newspaper!).

We flew over on a Sounds Air flight to Blenheim, a short 20 minute plane ride from Wellington, arriving the evening before the festival and spent the evening soaking up the sunshine by the pool.

On the day of the festival we headed off to enjoy several hours of delicious food, wines and entertainment. In the evening we all enjoyed a lovely meal and celebrated with our children, who had enjoyed a relaxing day in Blenheim.

I’m glad we had plenty of helpers to eat the cake!
