A 10km walk through vineyards, raising funds for a local school (Martinborough School), with a lovely group of ladies and drink stations serving wine along the way… yes please!
On 17 March I headed over the hill from Wellington, with a couple of friends, and spent the night prior to the ‘Martinborough Round the Vines‘ event sipping on wine and dining on a platter of cheese, olives and other delights.
The event start time was at a very pleasant time of 10.30am – giving us plenty of time to have our beauty sleep on a Sunday morning, don our pink T-shirts and tutus, grab our bubble wands, a coffee, and take some pre-event pics!
It was a gorgeous day for the event and the atmosphere was wonderful, with so many fun costumed event participants!
All the volunteers hosting the drink stations got into the spirit too – dressing up and providing wonderful musical entertainment. Many of the event marshals were in costume too!
The course took us through private land, that the owners kindly opened up especially for the event, making for a very scenic walk.
It was a really lovely event and always good to spend some quality time with good friends too.
I got home on Sunday evening and passed on the tutus to my daughters… one of whom who decided to spread some fairy love and laughter around the south coast, on our evening stroll with our dog!
