One of the many highlights of my recent trip to the UK was being there to celebrate my Dad’s 70th Birthday and my sister’s 40th Birthday. It was wonderful to not only share an incredible three week trip with my folks and their youngest granddaughter, my daughter Alice, aged 6, but to also celebrate two ‘milestone’ Birthdays!
We stayed at my Dad’s sister’s house, my Aunty Chris, in central Liverpool, near where the Beatles played at Liverpool’s ‘Cavern Club‘ and where my Dad went to school at The Blue Coat School.
The night before the party we enjoyed a meal with my Aunty Chris, Aunty Norma, and her hubby – my Uncle Bob, and picked up the Birthday cake in the afternoon. And what a fabulous cake it was!! We took the cake around to my Aunty Olga & Uncle John’s house (Aunty Olga is another of my Dad’s sisters – he is one of seven – with four sisters and two brothers!). The party celebrations were kindly hosted at my Aunty Olga & Uncle John’s house and it was great for Alice to meet a few of her great aunts and uncles before the party.
The next day we woke up all ready to party!
It was so lovely to be reunited with my dear sister and a few of my many, wonderful, cousins.
We all have childhood memories of many family parties at Aunty Olga & Uncle John’s home (with their three sons). It was lovely to see the next generation running around and having fun in the garden, just like we used to do.
It was a really wonderful party and a great ‘half way’ celebration for my sister and her friend on their incredible ‘National Park Challenge’ as written about on their website ‘Park Discoverers‘, of running 15 marathons across the National Parks of the UK in the month of September!
Seeing so many of my aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family was so very special and a fabulous celebration of my Dad and sister’s respective birthdays. Hip, hip, hooray! x
