Time has to be the biggest love of any holiday for our family. No matter where we are, no matter the weather (though sunshine for at least half the holiday is preferable), it is time that holds the highest value.
Time to talk idly over coffee or dinner.
Time to play.
Time to amble at leisure and step in a shop for a gander.
Time to wander through a museum, to read and digest the information, to imagine life in another time.
Time to admire the scenery, from countryside…
to golden sand beaches of the Abel Tasman National Park…
and watching an outgoing tide at Mapua.
Time to treasure the little pleasures – a drawing with chalk, a freshly plucked flower behind the ear,
kiss curls and bubble baths.
Time to get lost in a maze.
And return from the maze to a beautiful setting for morning tea.
Time to enjoy water play.
Time to value the importance of family and the wisdom of grandparents.
Time to play ‘make believe’ in fairy like gardens, that are so plentiful in the expansive countryside of rural Nelson.
Where cafes, art and creative expression, intermingle to provide a rich sensory experience.
Time, when it works in favour, with little ones taking a nap when it’s needed and older children knowing when to stop, eat and rest.
Our holiday in Nelson is not yet over and we are treasuring this time together.
So thankful to be here, in beautiful Nelson, making memories to last.
