Queen Victoria Gets a Royal Welcome in Wellington

Wellington City put on a great show on Sunday to welcome The Queen Victoria on its maiden world-cruise. The city buzzed with the sound of helicopter rescue displays, tug-boat rides up to the cruise liner and a warm feeling of welcome.

We enjoyed a fabulous day on the waterfront. Charlotte experienced a new first: dinghy sailing. Sophie was keen to give it a go, but not quite old enough – so we went for a sedate pedalo ride afterwards.

After the excitement of the city we stopped in for a swim, at the Wellington Aquatic Centre, before dinner and a final goodbye to The Queen Victoria. We waved good-bye from Breaker Bay – along with hundreds of other people! It was quite something to see.
